Bad habits can increase the risk of gum disease. Bad habits should be avoided like taking alcohol excessively this can largely contribute to the production of saliva and trigger dry mouth. Our saliva is very important especially in the prevention of gum infection. It helps eliminate bacteria in the mouth and it is the mouths’ natural defense against bacterial attack. To prevent gum infection it cannot only be done by proper oral hygiene but as well as by eliminating bad habits, and following proper diet. Unless bad habits such as smoking get drunk, grinding of tooth is stop, gum infections will persist. We should not forget to have our teeth cleaned.
