What is the stock exchange?

What are stock exchanges, and how can penny stocks make money? There are actually many penny stocks across the world although the most famous exchanges where they are traded are New York and London. What a stock exchange does is allow for brokers and stock traders to buy and sell. Most stock exchanges are actually companies themselves. The stock markets are affected by supply and demand and prices of stocks rise and fall as traders buy and sell to try and make a profit. Many things are traded on stock exchanges from shares issued by companies to other investment and financial products.
